About the Artists

 

Neil Simone

 

Born in London in 1947, Neil Studied basic graphic art and design at school.

In 1969, whilst working on an exhibition for The Multi Occupational Training and Education Centre, he visited Harrogate and discovered the majestic scenery of North Yorkshire. Neil was so inspired by the town and  it’s surroundings that by 1971 he had moved to Harrogate, where he lived and worked until 2003. Neil now lives, works and exhibits in a converted school in the village of Whixley, between Harrogate and York.

Neil’s painting has a concept and style as distinctive as it is unique and has been exhibited world wide in many leading galleries.With a compelling quality that arrests the attention, each of Neil’s paintings fuse fact with visionary fantasy to create a world that is wonderfully ambiguous and always open to interpretation.

Heather Simone

 

Sharing Neil’s home and studio is his wife, fellow artist Heather Simone.

Though her subjects and techniques are very different to Neil’s, they compliment each other beautifully. Heathers focus has recently turned to larger than life flower paintings and whimsical fruit studies. Subservient to realism, Heathers images underline her fascination with detail and aim to encapsulate the traditional values of The Old Masters with a refreshingly contemporary outlook.

Painting with versatility and a vibrancy of colour, Heather is currently concentrating on floral and fruit studies, often introducing a trompe l’oeil element to beguile and delight the viewer.
